ENVIS-NIOH Centre on” ENVIRONMENT AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH celebrated the “World Day for Safety and Health at Work” on 28th April, 2016 to raise awareness about the importance of a safe and healthy work environment. The theme of this year’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work is “Workplace Stress: a collective challenge”. Today, many workers are facing greater pressure to meet the demands of modern working life. Psychosocial risks such as increased competition, higher expectations on performance and longer working hours are contributing to the workplace becoming an ever more stressful environment. “World Day for Safety and Health at Work” gave us an opportunity to share with some workers about their workplace hazards with safety measures.
On this occasion an awareness programme on Occupational Health & Safety issues in workers in Machine works at Module Engineering Company, GIDC, Odhav was conducted. The workers were briefed on the occupational hazards and the precautions to be taken related to their occupation by Mr. Pankaj Doctor (Scientist-E, Coordinator, ENVIS-NIOH).At the end of the session the workers took a pledge on Safety for up building a safer Work Environment. There were around 30 workers as participants. Ms. Shruti Patel , Technician-C, NIOH , Ms. Annie Soju, Programme officer , ENVIS NIOH, Ms. Prarthana Trivedi, Information Officer, ENVIS NIOH, Mr. Deepak Purohit , IT Assistant , ENVIS NIOH , played important roles for the successful completion of the mission.
