“Be the change you want to see in this world".
These lines by Mahatma Gandhi were the inspiration for us when we took a very small baby step towards cleanliness on the occasion of the Flag off of the "Swachhta Divas” by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sunil Kumar, Director-in-charge of NIOH. This was followed by an Oath taking ceremony which stressed the need for cleanliness starting from our homes to workplace and henceforth the society. We believe that action speaks louder than words. Hence, it was followed by an on-campus cleaning campaign with the idea of motivating the general public.
ENVIS-NIOH conducted an awareness programme on cleanliness and housekeeping for the construction and sanitary workers. The chief guest Dr. Jai Karan, Regional Director of Regional Office for Health and Family Welfare Ahmedabad, speech emphasized the progressive development of clean nation with the efforts we can put forward for the same. Dr. Sunil Kumar, Director in-Charge NIOH, addressed the gathering and gave the message, that we must dedicate ourselves to the cleanliness of the nation and thereby being a part of this Abhiyan. A power point presentation was given by Ms Annie Soju, Programme Officer, ENVIS NIOH emphasizing the health benefit of keeping cleanliness. This was a small initiative and we plan to go a long way on these lines. On this occasion, the sanitary workers were distributed with a pair of Acid Proof Gloves and a Facemask to protect themselves from their daily work related problems occurring due to exposure chemicals and dust. Dr. Lokesh Sharma Scientist B and Co- Coordinator of NIOH- ENVIS, Ms Prarthana Trivedi, Information Officer, ENVIS NIOH, Mr. Deepak Purohit, IT Assistant, ENVIS NIOH and Ms. Shruti Patel, Editorial Advisor, WorkOSH participated actively in the Abhiyan.
