Mentor of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and our Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi has said, "The smell of clean earth is far sweeter than the fragrance of artificial scents and essence". Pandit Nehru has initiated and worked for the social reformation of the construction and functioning of a number of schools in the rural population. With a motto to give a tribute to our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru popularly known as Chachaji among children, Govt. of India has declared Bal Swachhta Mission from 14-19th November 2014. To celebrate this mission an awareness programme was conducted by ENVIS-NIOH team on 19th November 2014 at Government Girls' School (Kanya Shala) and Government Boys' School (Kumar Shala), Navagam, Kheda.
The aim of the awareness programme was to aware children about clean school and surroundings and importance of cleanliness and personal hygiene. Students of standard 6th-8th where briefed about the programme. A PowerPoint presentation was given to them emphasizing the health benefits of keeping cleanliness in school, having clean and nutritious food, personal hygiene, drinking clean water and having clean toilets. A video on how to keep city clean was also shown to them. Further there was a query session in which students had asked many questions which was responded by the ENVIS team. Ms. Annie Soju, Programme officer , ENVIS NIOH, Ms. Prarthana Trivedi, Information Officer, ENVIS NIOH, Mr. Deepak Purohit , IT Assistant , ENVIS NIOH, Ms. Shruti Patel , Editorial Advisor, WorkOSH and Mrs. Sharda Y Vaghasiya played important roles for the successful completion of the mission.
